The Art of Printing, Defined

Photography’s power for storytelling is legendary. A picture IS worth a thousands words. That brilliantly pithy turn of phrase describes the complex and immediate impact of seeing a photograph.

Every photograph tells a story. One that can entice or intrigue, fill us with joy, mystery, or a complex blend of emotions that spans the human experience. But it takes more than clicking the shutter.

Photos that only exist on your devices are like unplayed symphonies. It’s only when you turn it into a print, and hang it on the wall that you unlock the full storytelling potential of your photographs. Photos on devices are ephemeral, like a scene we see walking through the city. It may briefly capture our attention, but it’s hard to hang on to as the stream of life continues to flow around us.

A print is different. When you hang it on the wall, time has been stopped. The moment exists in a place that it will be seen, contemplated, discovered, over and over again. Its message becomes persistent. And when done well, gains a depth and clarity of communication that surpasses the ability of the screen to display.

That is why we exist. What motivates us every day to push the bounds of printmaking, so that we can transform your photos into the most powerful expression of photography. Printing for us is far more than simply pushing print. Shouldn’t it be for you?

Five reasons to print with Metal&Paper PRO

1.Experience

We’re not a startup, and that’s a good thing. We’ve been pioneering digital printing for nearly twenty years under the name West Coast Imaging, printing countless gallery and museum shows. We printed the first all digital exhibitions for legends including Galen Rowell, Jack Dykinga, Robert Glenn Ketchum and many others, and continue to print work for photographers of note. All of that experience goes into every print we make for you.

2. Quality

We understand quality. Our staff includes former gallery curators who sold original works by Ansel Adams for tens of thousands of dollars. Every print we make meets our expectations for gallery quality.

3.Profiles

Your files are like sheet music. The notes on the page need to be performed to be heard. And the instrument must be in tune to preform properly. ICC profiles are what bring our printers in tune and make sure the notes in your photograph are performed with richness, depth and accuracy. Our workflow is completely color managed so the colors in your file will be the colors in your print.

4.Respect the Color Space

Some labs still only print using sRGB. Seriously? We’ve used and respected customers’ wide-gamut profiles from day one. It’s a part of making sure your creative choices are performed as accurately as possible. ProPhoto, AdobeRGB, or any other space you want to use is fine with us.

5.Papers

Paper is what makes each print unique. We help you express the uniqueness of every photograph with a wide range of papers from traditional silver based photo papers to cotton rag inkjet papers.
