Pulitzer
Prize-winning photographer Jack Dykinga is one of America's most
respected landscape photographers. His skill in creating images
that are both majestic and factual has made him a favorite of prestigious
publications such as Arizona Highways, Audubon, Harpers, Sierra
Club, Sunset, Popular Photography, Outdoor Photographer and
Time. He also has published several books, including his most
recent, "Large
Format Nature Photography", which is an instructional user's
guide written to demystify the highly technical world of four-by-five
view cameras.
Jack's
work reflects the merging of a photojournalistic, documentary approach
with large-format landscape photography, focusing on environmental
issues in the United States and Mexico. In the autumn of 1999, West
Coast Imaging teamed with Jack Dykinga to create a collection of
prints for an Arizona Highways Exhibition featuring his work, alongside
photographs by David Muench and Ansel Adams. We collaborated on
many prints, which have hung in multiple high-profile venues including
the Phoenix Art Museum, The Center for Creative Photography, and
the Museum of Northern Arizona.
"The
images are incredible, but more importantly, working with (West
Coast Imaging) has been an absolute dream," Dykinga said. "It's
been better than any lab I've worked with."
Over
the past four years, we've had the great pleasure of printing dozens
of his images using our Exhibition
Print Service.
"Working
with Jack Dykinga to make his expressive prints has been a sincere
pleasure and creative treat," said West Coast Imaging Master
Printer Terrance Reimer.
"Jack's
chromes are so tight, he makes the challenge of creating exceptional
prints come very easy to the digital process. He is an inspiration
to me, not only as a photographer, but also as a steward to the
natural environment. His images are always powerful and provocative.
Jack is a living legend."
