Gamuts and tones

The Chromira with Fuji Crystal Archive Paper makes the best looking photographic prints we have seen, with an excellent display life.

In side-by-side comparisons, it beats the 9600 nearly every time. The prints feel more three dimensional than the 9600 prints. This is due in part to richer colors, and a much better D-max. If your image relies on black and dark tones, there is no comparison--the Chromira wins hands down.

It also has the best glossy surface of any digital print.

The Epson 9600 is the best inkjet photographic printer available.

While the Chromira and Fuji Crystal Archive makes more brilliant photographic prints, the Epson 9600 can produce cleaner blues for images that depend on it, and it can print on fine art papers. It also has a longer display life.

It also prints very nice B&W images--especially if you are looking for a tint, such as a sepia toned print.

The D-max (blacks) on the Epson 9600 is not as deep as prints made on the Chromira.

Gamut is narrower than Fuji Crystal Archive and the Epson 9600 with Ultrachrome Inks, but offers a much longer display life.

Very nice tonal scale with a traditional look and feel - similar to platinum prints.

Can print a very wide range of tones.

These are the most fade resistant Quadtone inks availabe. The cool purplish color closely matches that of traditional selenium toned B&W prints.

Very nice tone with a traditional look and feel - similar to platinum prints.

Can print a very wide range of tones.

The warm color of these inks gives the feel of warm-tone silver-gelatin papers and platinum prints.
