Fuji Removes Backprinting On Matte Fuji Crystal Archive Paper
When you receive a print from us, it's what's on the front that counts. But if you look on the back of a recent print made on matte surface Fuji Crystal Archive paper, you'll notice that the light gray Fuji logo is missing.
Don't panic! It's still Fuji paper. In response to industry feedback, Fuji has decided to discontinue backprinting on their matte surface pro papers, since backprinting can show through in certain display applications.

Museo Silver Rag Paper - A New Standard
B&W photographers who print digitally have been longing for a paper that truly "matches" the look and feel of a traditional silver print made in the darkroom. Thanks to Crane Paper's new Museo Silver Rag, it's now possible.
Silver Rag has the semi-gloss look of a traditional air dried fiber print, with the feel of a fine cotton paper. When used with the new Epson K3 inks, the print quality is amazing. We first saw this paper at PhotoPlus in New York last November, and have been eagerly waiting for it.
It's hard to come up with words to describe it. When you hold a print made on it, you feel like you are holding a double-weight fiber print in your hand. The blacks have the depth and density you'd expect from a silver print, and the lighter tones are wonderfully delicate. If you regularly make B&W prints, you have to see it for yourself. But this paper isn't just for B&W...color prints are amazing, as well.
Color photographs take on the look of dye transfer prints when printed on Silver Rag. The colors are rich and saturated, and the blacks are deep and inky black. For decades, dye transfer prints were the standard for fine art color prints. Used by many great masters including Elliot Porter, dye transfer printing is one of the most difficult printing processes. It has all but disappeared because Kodak stopped making the materials. Now, the look and feel of dye transfer will live again, and many color photographers will be able to discover the beauty possible using this paper.
Museo Silver Rag is made by Crane Paper. The only thing you need to know about Crane is that they have made the paper that U.S. currency is printed on since 1879. From invitations to the dedication of the Statue of Liberty in 1886, to Presidential Inauguration stationery, Crane has a long and illustrious history.
Silver Rag is a 300 gsm paper available in rolls up to 50 inches, and is manufactured to archival standards. We are offering prints on Silver Rag across our entire product line. Pricing can be found on our website, and samples are available. We are excited to offer this groundbreaking paper to our customers.

West Coast Imaging Launches Blog To Discuss Emerging Digital Printing Topics
West Coast Imaging is stepping into the blogosphere because there is so much we want to talk about that doesn’t fit into a neatly organized box on our website. For instance, we wanted to share information on the testing we’ve been doing with LCDs as compared to CRTs. In the past, we might have been inclined to call it a tip, but it’s not really. It’s valuable information, but it’s not an end-all-be-all answer. It’s information that is part of the journey of making expressive prints, with technology that is ever-changing...and sometimes even improving! That's why we posted this valuable information on our blog. We’re all on this journey together, so pass the road map, put on some good music, and let’s hit the road! Visit our blog.
