Guide File Workflow - Pixel Podcast
by Rich Seiling

Are big scans slowing you down? Once you start adding layers, it's easy for a file to balloon to 600MB or larger in size. This slows down your computer, your creativity, and your ability to work instinctively and intuitively on your photographs.

The Guide File Workflow is the answer. By working on a small copy of a large raw scan, you can quickly make changes to and proofs of your photos. This frees up the creative process and allows you to use Photoshop's tools more effectively. Then, when you have a Guide File you love, you can transfer all those expressive decisions to your raw scan to make a Master File for any use.

Grab your popcorn and view part one and two of this Pixel Podcast to learn the basics...and don't forget to e-mail this tip to a friend!
