Crane Museo Silver
Rag
An inkjet paper with a surface similar to traditional darkroom
processes like fiber based silver-gelatin B&W prints,
and color dye-transfer prints. One of the best choices for B&W
printing.
Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308
An inkjet artist's paper with a surface like smooth watercolor
paper. Produces a soft look similar to alternative photographic
processes.
DAS GEO Glossy Water Resistant Canvas
This glossy-surface coated inkjet cloth canvas offers excellent
reproductions of color, and is a favorite among artists. This
canvas is approximately 14 mil thick, is a cotton-poly blend,
and is very water resistant, and dries instantly. This canvas
does not require coating after printing.
DAS Matte Water Resistant Artist Canvas
This matte-surface coated inkjet cloth canvas is a cotton/poly
blend that produces excellent reproductions of color. It is 13
mil thick and smudge-resistant, even after water hits it. This
water resistant canvas does not require coating after printing.
Hahnemühle
German Etching
This is an inkjet artist's paper, with a surface like a rough watercolor
paper. Hahnemühle German Etching produces a soft
look, similar to alternative photographic processes.
Somerset Photo Enhanced Velvet
This is an inkjet artist's paper, with a surface like a semi-rough
watercolor paper. It produces a soft look, similar to alternative
photographic processes.
Premium Luster Photo Paper - Epson
Epson Premium Luster Photo Paper is an inkjet paper with a surface
similar to Fuji Crystal Archive Matte. This is a popular choice
for people who want to use Epson inks to make a print
that looks and feels like a print made in the darkroom.
Epson Canvas
This matte canvas is an older product, and we don't recommend
it for new images. We continue to use it only for legacy images
that have been tuned to print correctly on this product. This
canvas is not water-resistant, and requires coating to protect
the image.
Enhanced Matte
Epson Enhanced Matte paper is a matte paper with an uncoated
appearance. It has good longevity and good image quality. We
primarily use it for poster printing because it is an economical
paper.
Hahnemühle
Fine Art Pearl 285
Another option for those who want a surface that replicates traditional
silver-gelatin, double-weight photo paper. Hahnemühle FineArt
Pearl 285gsm is a triple coated, lignin-free, 100% alpha-cellulose
paper. Its base is brighter and whiter than Crane Museo
Silver Rag, but the coating does not quite produce the same illusion
of depth that is associated with Silver Rag. This is becoming
a very popular paper for B&W photos.
Hahnemühle
Torchon 285
This is an inkjet artist's paper, with a very coarse texture
but smooth surface. Print quality is similar to Hahnemühle
Photo Rag, but with more texture.
Printers
and Inks
We
have a variety of output devices available to print your images.
Chromira
The ZBE Chromira is a digital enlarger that uses LED light to expose
light-sensitive photo paper with great precision. The paper is
then processed in photographic chemistry to produce a true photograph
that has been "written with light."
NEW! Epson 11880 - K3 Vivid Magenta Inks
Epson's latest inkjet printer with the new K3 Vivid Magenta inkset. The 11880 allows us to use both Photo Black and Matte Black inks in the same printer, choosing the optimum ink for each paper. The K3 Vivid Magenta inks produce color prints that are richer than the previous generation EPSON inks, and produce B&W prints with much deeper blacks(greater D-max).
Epson 9800 - K3 Inks
The fifth generation fine-art inkjet printer from
Epson. It uses K3 Ultrachrome inks with either a Photo Black
or Matte Black ink. Photo Black is optimized to produce optimal
d-max with glossy and photo surface papers. Matte Black is is
optimized to produce optimal d-max with artist papers, watercolor
papers, and other uncoated matte-surface papers. The Ultrachrome
K3 inks produce slightly richer colors than the Epson 9600 inks on most papers,
and offer similar longevity. The K3 inks give improved performance
on glossy papers, with less gloss differential. One of the biggest
advantages of the K3 inks is their ability to produce stunning
B&W prints without the color shifting seen with other
color inkjet printers. We have two Epson 9800 printers so that we can efficiently print on any paper. One
is configured with Photo Black ink, and the other is configured
with Matte Black ink.
Epson 9600 -Ultrachrome Inks
This is the fourth generation fine-art inkjet printer from Epson that uses Epson Ultrachrome
inks. We still use this printer for select legacy files that have been specifically adjusted for this inkset.
Epson 10000
This is the third generation fine-art inkjet printer from Epson.
Ours is equipped with Epson Archival Pigment Inks. Good in its
day, the new Epson printers produce much better prints, in most
cases. We mainly use it to print legacy Giclée files that have
been tuned to match its palette, and to print poster prints.
The archival Pigment Inks are rated to 200+ years with many papers,
making it a good choice for signs and prints displayed in direct
sunlight.
