Creo CCD
Flatbed Scans
But its most exciting abilities are the result of its flatbed design. Since original artwork doesn’t need to be wrapped around a drum, it can scan anything that can be placed on its flatbed. That includes slides, color negatives, B&W negatives, historic glass plates, and nitrate negatives. It can also scan prints and non-photographic work like watercolors and other artwork. And it can handle originals up to 12x18 inches in size. Another way it differs from our Tango Drum Scanner is that wet mounting is optional with the Creo. While wet mounting always increases quality when scanning film originals, it is very time consuming, which adds to the cost of the scan. It is also not practical for some originals, such as glass plates and old nitrate negatives. Premium
CCD Scans are made with the same attention-to-detail we give
our drum scans. They are geared to the needs of fine artists.
Individual decisions are carefully made for each original. Film
originals are carefully cleaned to minimize dust, and then are
wet mounted with KAMI fluid (when appropriate) for optimum color
and density. Flat artwork does not require cleaning or wet mounting
to be scanned. Quality is geared to fine art photographic quality
printing. Primary Applications for Creo iSmart 3: Color
negatives
Our Creo iQsmart3 flatbed scanner has unique capabilities that compliment our Tango Drum Scanner, allowing us to meet a wide variety of scanning needs. With a maximum optical resolution of 5500 dpi, a maximum density of 4.1, and a density range of 3.9, it produces superb quality. Because it is a flatbed scanner, it allows us to scan mounted prints and other artwork that must stay flat and cannot be mounted on a drum scanner. It also has special color negative settings that give us greater control when scanning color negatives. A 12x18-inch scanning area allows us to handle even large originals. Premium Creo Scans are made with the same attention-to-detail we give our drum scans and are geared to the needs of fine-art, photographic-quality printing. Individual decisions are made for each original. Film originals are carefully cleaned to minimize dust, and then are wet mounted with KAMI fluid (when appropriate) for optimum color and density. Flat artwork does not require cleaning or wet mounting to be scanned.
*We must use a significant amount of materials to scan 8x10 and larger film. Therefore, we have a minimum scan charge of $49.95 per image for 8x10 or larger film. This charge does not apply to 6x17cm or 6x12cm panos. Please contact us for custom pricing if you have a large quantity of large film you need us to scan.
Stock Photography and Photo Collection Scans are made to meet the needs of stock photographers, museums, historical societies, and other institutions who need to scan large quantities of film and prints. These scans are made on our Creo iQsmart3 flatbed scanner, and do not use the wet mounting process. As a result, labor is significantly reduced, which reduces the cost, allowing us to make many more scans per hour. Quality is geared to the needs of offset reproduction on printing presses, online display of photographic collections, and the print needs of institutional collections. Pricing
is based on the size of the original, and the size in MB of the
scan. Minimum order is $100. Custom solutions can be created
for any scanning need, including on-site scanning for large archives.
